Vision

Kirkplace's Vision

To be a church where the love of God overflows, as we revel in His Son, delight in each other and flood the world with God's love, empowered by His Spirit until Jesus returns.

A church where the love of God overflows is:

A church that revels in Jesus.

By God’s Spirit, we want to be:

  • A people gripped by God’s love for us in Jesus, and daily growing more in our love for the one who died and rose for us.
  • A place of vibrant, creative, Christ-centred worship and humble, fervent prayer.
  • A centre of rich biblical teaching which engages the mind, touches the heart, moves the will, and transforms lives.
  • A community in which loving obedience to God and whole-hearted devotion to Jesus is the norm, and where relationships, work and leisure are the arena of creative daily worship.e. A church which is deeply committed the essential gospel truths of the Christian faith revealed in the Scriptures, and which is proudly Presbyterian; while also allowing freedom in the non-essentials, and working with Christians from all denominations in the service of Christ.
2. A church where we delight in each other.
By God’s Spirit, we want to be:
a. A community which celebrates people of all backgrounds, abilities, cultures and generations.
b. A body in which all of God’s gifts are treasured, and in which each and every member is equipped to play their part as we grow up into Jesus our head.
c. A haven of truth and grace where tender-hearted concern, practical help, thoughtful encouragement, gentle correction, humble confession and free forgiveness are second nature.
d. A close network of individual lives, bound together in Jesus, and welcoming outsiders in with his love.
A church where we delight in each other.

By God’s Spirit, we want to be:

  • A community which celebrates people of all backgrounds, abilities, cultures and generations.
  • A body in which all of God’s gifts are treasured, and in which each and every member is equipped to play their part as we grow up into Jesus our head.
  • A haven of truth and grace where tender-hearted concern, practical help, thoughtful encouragement, gentle correction, humble confession and free forgiveness are second nature.
  • A close network of individual lives, bound together in Jesus, and welcoming outsiders in with his love.
A church which floods the world with God’s love.

By God’s Spirit, we want to be:

  • A dynamic contributor and innovative leader of the St George community, doing good in the name of Jesus, reaching out to the least in his love, and calling all to entrust their lives to him.
  • A community of responsible global citizens, who delight in the goodness of God’s creation, are conscious of the needs and challenges facing our world, and gladly accept the role given to us as stewards in this age, as we look forward to the renewal of all things when Jesus comes.
  • A network of individuals living increasingly Christlike lives so as to be salt and light in the world around them.
  • An innovative ministry training ground, where leaders are identified, recruited, equipped, sent out and supported as they work in God’s harvest-field in many different ways across Sydney and around the world.
  • A people who delight in the worldwide unity of the church, who are committed to gospel mission to ends of the earth, and who share by prayer, giving and concrete action the burdens and joys of all of God’s people in Christ.

overflow

We want to be a church where the love of God overflows: We are so captivated, amazed and thankful for God's love to us.  Not only does he create us, he gives us life, forgives us, and saves us by giving us Jesus. This sacrificial love overflows to us from God and we can do nothing but strive to love Him in return.  His love for us compels us to love each other this same way and fills us up so much that it extends over the brim of our church, beyond ourselves and to the world.

The love of God starts with Him.  It ends with Him. It never stops. It directs our life.  It shapes our relationships. And it simply can't be kept in.

It overflows.
